The WPT aims to create a care and conservation education hub at Kiwa Centre. Through content creation, awareness campaigns, and public engagement initiatives, we aim to raise awareness about parrot care and enrichment. This includes activities such as streaming on social platforms and creating educational videos and instructional media for care and enrichment activities that can be done at home. The WPT intends to position the Kiwa Centre as a base for parrot care excellence and use the centre to communicate responsible parrot care. Parrots at the centre not eligible for conservation projects will be trained as Ambassador birds to allow for their participation, through free-flying events and training demos, in public engagement, education and fundraising. Importantly, the Kiwa Centre seeks to establish a robust program that harnesses interest from zookeepers, professionals and the public in volunteering. This initiative will provide additional support to our on-site keepers and create a network of trusted volunteers contributing to the overall development of the centre.
